About Kay Haspell
About Kay Haspell: Your Passionate Florist in the Scottish Highlands
Buying flowers, growing flowers, or arranging flowers—these are undoubtedly my happy places. My journey as a florist in the Scottish Highlands began with a profound appreciation for the joy that blooms can bring to people’s lives. I vividly remember when my grandmother went to a local flower arranging class. I saw how utterly delighted and proud she was when she presented her beautifully finished article to the family. I think that was my very first introduction to knowing that such wonderful floral workshops even existed.
My Journey: From a Local Flower Barn to Denmark
Years later, I took a class myself with my mum at a Flower Barn located at a local farm. Walking in, it felt exactly like stepping into a sweetie shop—there was every imaginable shape, colour, and texture of foliage and blooms. That was it; that was me hooked on the art of floral arrangements. Shortly after, I made and sold some delicate dried flower baskets for my work colleagues, and that is precisely when I realised it was something I wanted to pursue professionally at some point in my life.
Fast forward a few years to an exciting move to Denmark, where I took the golden opportunity to work in a beautiful flower shop called “Blomster Skraedderen” (The Flower Tailor). The owner, Pernille, was and still is incredibly talented. She graciously taught me everything she knows about floristry, design, and technique. I have a tremendous amount of respect for her, and we had an incredible amount of fun working in the shop and conducting evening floral classes together. I have very fond memories of my time there that I will treasure always. The Danish concept of ‘hygge’ and their natural approach to floral design still heavily influences my work today.

Bringing Floral Inspiration Back to the Highlands
Eventually, two wonderful children and a heartfelt move back to Scotland brought me away from Denmark—a country with its people and floral influences forever in my heart. Our boys are grown up now, living their absolute best lives doing what they love most.
So, now it is finally time for me to live my dream of running my own business in floristry right here in the Highlands!

Crafting Bespoke Designs from My Dalcross Studio
I have worked in customer service all my working life. I absolutely love talking to people, finding out about their lives, and touching their souls through the medium of flowers. From the exact moment I receive an order, that is me completely submerged in the customer’s ideas, wishes, and creative vision.
It is such a profound joy to see their faces light up when you bring it all together. Operating from my studio in Dalcross, I now craft bespoke designs for clients in Inverness, Dingwall, Nairn, Aviemore, Elgin, and right across the Highlands. It would be my absolute pleasure to help tell your unique story through flowers.
